First ‘Solo’ Plot Synopsis Teases Han’s Adventure

Disney/Lucasfilm have finally released the first official ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story‘ plot synopsis, and it’s only a little over four months until it’s release. We have yet to see even an official image from ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story‘, but we already know that the film has had quite the rough path to the big screen. In essence, original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller departed the project with only three weeks of shooting left (you can watch me talking about what happened here).

Almost immediately, Lucasfilm hired Ron Howard to replace the duo and re-shoot some of the footage they had previously shot. It was a this point–with roughly 10 months until it’s intended release date of May 25, 2018–that pretty much everyone expected the film to be pushed to december of this year, but alas, that never happened. Then, what seemed to be a small amount of reshoots, turned into what has become a pretty hefty overhaul of the whole movie by Howard, Kathleen Kennedy and co.

Since then, ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story‘ has pretty much remained radio silent (sans the official title announcement). But with such a short window of time, and no official images, let alone an official trailer. Well now, the newly released synopsis seems to at least give us an idea of what the film is actually about–and it won’t do much to quell people’s fears about the film.

Here is the official plot synopsis for ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ (via Collider):

Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a seres of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.

‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ releases in U.S. theaters on May 25, 2018.

There are two main takeaways form this synopsis; that the film will pretty much be what we expected it to be, and that the film seems to still be retaining it’s May 25th release date. The latter is more surprising than the former–and means that wither we’ll be seeing a trailer released very, very soon, or we’ll be hearing about a release date push. ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story‘ stars Alden Ehrenreich, Emilia ClarkeDonald GloverWoody HarrelsonPhoebe Waller-Bridge, and Joonas Suotamo. Make sure to check back for more details as we learn more!
