First Set Photos of Brie Larson as Captain Marvel Leak

The first set photos of Brie Larson in costume as Captain Marvel have leaked, and they are interesting to say the least, showing the oscar-winning actress in full costume as the character. Although these photos do a good job of showcasing the suit itself, they also raise questions of context. Specifically, which film this scene might be from, along with why the green color of the suit varies so heavily from the more classic Captain Marvel look that people expected. The big question here is whether the photos come from the production of the upcoming ‘Captain Marvel‘ solo film, which is just beginning to shoot, or the as of yet untitled ‘Avengers 4‘, which is currently winding down from shooting. Larson has already been confirmed for ‘Avengers 4‘, but the interesting thing here is that Larson will have shot ‘Captain Marvel‘ after the fourth Avengers film, even though her solo outing will be released roughly two months before that film has a chance to reach screens.

Here’s the first set photos of Larson in costume as Danvers:

First, I think that it’s important to note that there will most certainly be multiple versions of the suit between both of the films, so fans shouldn’t fret too much since we’ve yet to se an official look at Larson in costume. With that said, there’s a few possibilities as to why the color of the suit itself seems to deviate so heavily from the traditional look that people expected. The most probable of these scenarios is that this is simply some type of prototype suit that Carol Danvers receives after she discovers her powers in the origin film. Just as likely is the idea that this is an upgraded costume from Larson’s appearance in ‘Avengers 4’.

There’s also the possibility that this is a Kree version of the suit, since we know that ‘Captain Marvel’ is set to take place in the 1990’s and that the Skulls are confirmed to be the antagonists in the film. The car is the background of the set photos, along with Larson’s hairstyle also have a period look to them, so that might add some weight to the idea that these photos are from ‘Captain Marvel’ instead of ‘Avengers 4’. It’s honestly tough to say, but I’d put my money on the idea that these are from the former of those two options. Time will tell.

Captain Marvel‘ is helmed by directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, and is set to not only be Marvel’s first female-led property brought to the big screen, but their first prequel story as well. Written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet, the film stars Larson, Ben Mendelsohn, Samuel L. Jackson, Jude Law, and DeWanda Wise. Likewise, ‘Avengers: Infinity War‘ and ‘Avengers 4‘ were directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. The duo shot both films back-to-back (to avoid scheduling conflicts with the massive cast), which is the reason why these photos are sort of confusing in the first place. Either way, it will be interesting to see how the final version of this suit looks on the screen after effects and color correction. Below is the concept art from last year’s comic-con for reference.

‘Captain Marvel’ opens on March 8, 2019 and ‘Avengers 4′ follows on May 3, 2019.
