Warner Bros. have released a batch of new images from ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald‘. The much-anticipated sequel to ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them‘, the new images reveal a few interesting bits about sequel, including the setting and how long after the original the film takes place. We recently learned from the first full look the the cast that Johnny Depp would be returning as the titular character, as well as the surprise casting of Jude Law as a young Albus Dumbledore. The new images, which feature a few familiar faces, confirm one big detail–a large part of the film will take place in Paris.
The first shot, which seems to be early from the first act (it might actually be the inciting incident itself) sees Eddie Redmayne‘s Newt holding a postcard form an unknown recipient. My bet is that this is from Law’s Dumbledore. The second image, which features Newt and Tina (Katherine Waterston) in a bank vault of some kind. their reactions in the image indicate that they might be in some sort of trouble. Finally, the third image features Newt and Jacob (Dan Fogler) as they roam the streets of Paris in search of something. A big part of me thinks that this image also comes early in the film, probably when they first arrive in Paris.

Here’s the official synopsis for ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald‘:
At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Redmayne). But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings.
In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.
The film opens November 16, 2018 and also stars Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Zoe Kravitz, Callum Turner, Claudia Kim.
