The first trailer for HBO’s ‘Spielberg‘ Documentary has arrived. Since it’s announcement, this documentary has been one of our most anticipated films of the fall season. The film, which was directed and Produced by Susan Lacy, covers the illustrious career of the Steven Spielberg. Comprised of excerpts of 30 hours of exclusive interviews from the director himself, as well as collaborators and family, ‘Spielberg‘ is set to be the definitive career retrospective of the acclaimed director.

Lacy interviewed more than 80 subjects for the film, ranging from A-list celebrities, to directors and producers, to industry insiders, including J.J. Abrams, Christian Bale, Drew Barrymore, Cate Blanchett, Francis Ford Coppola, Daniel Craig, Daniel Day-Lewis, Brian de Palma, Laura Dern, Leonardo DiCaprio, Richard Dreyfuss, Ralph Fiennes,Robert Zemeckis, Harrison Ford, David Geffen, Tom Hanks, Dustin Hoffman, Holly Hunter, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Ben Kingsley, Kathleen Kennedy, George Lucas, Liam Neeson, Oprah Winfrey, and Martin Scorsesse.

Here’s the official trailer:

What’s so exciting about this documentary is that it provides a seemingly introspective look at the filmmaker’s career. Spielberg is most certainly one of the most popular and widely known directors in the world of cinema, so it’s reliving to know that the filmmaker is finally getting the spotlight turned on himself. When you consider that Spielberg is very secretive when it comes to his filmmaking methods–refusing to do commentaries for example–this documentary provides a good opportunity to pick the filmmakers brain a bit.

While we wait for the ‘Spielberg’ to be released on HBO platforms October 7,2017, here’s the official synopsis for the film:

One of the most famous filmmakers in the world, Steven Spielberg pulls back the curtain on his remarkable career more than ever before in the exclusive HBO presentation SPIELBERG. The feature-length documentary examines Spielberg’s filmography in depth, revealing how his experiences fed his work and changed it over time. Directed and produced by award-winning documentarian Susan Lacy, this unprecedented chronicle debuts exclusively on HBO.

CANON OF FILM: ‘Jurassic Park’

I don't think I'd even rank 'Jurassic Park' among Spielberg's Top 20 features. Admittedly, that's as much a tribute to Spielberg's body of work than anything else, but this is basically just a well-made horror movie.
