‘Super Troopers 2’ Red-Band Trailer Unleashed

Super Troopers 2‘ has unleahed it’s first official red band trailer. Released in 2001, the original ‘Super Troopers‘ quickly became a cult hit on dvd. The guys behind Broken Lizard have pretty much always wanted to make a sequel to the film, but could never find the funding to make it happen. Then, in 2015, it was announced that the comedy troupe had received studio permission to make the movie, but that production funds would have to find production funding themselves. The group then turned to indiegogo, where they successfully met their $2 million funding goal in 26 hours, and raised a total of $4.4 million to make the movie.

The sequel follows our lovable band of heroes as they deal with a “border dispute” that somehow involves a group of Canadian mounties. While the trailer itself serves mainly as an announcement, we do know that Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, Erik Stolhanske, and Brian Cox return to their roles, as well as the additions of new cast members Emmanuelle Chriqui, Tyler Labine, Lynda Carter, Rob Lowe, Will Sasso, and Hayes MacArthur. Chandrasekhar is returning to direct, so the pieces are all in place for this to be a worthy follow-up to the original.

The original ‘Super Troopers‘ is one of those movies that never seems to get old no matter how many times you watch it, so let’s hope that the sequel will live up the legacy of the original. Based on this trailer, i think it’s safe to say that the spirit of the original will love on in the sequel, despite the over 15 year time gap between the two.

In case you didn’t realize from the trailer, ‘Super Troopers 2‘ is set to be released on April 20, 2018.
