‘Bumblebee’ – Hailee Seinfeld Reveals First Look

(AOTN) Last week, we heard that the ‘Bumblebee‘ solo film had finally begun production. As the first spinoff film in the ‘Transformers‘ franchise, the team behind the the new solo films have talked openly about the importance of the ‘Bumblebee‘ movie. Although the franchise has grossed over 4.3 Billion worldwide, this film offers a turning point for the series in many ways. Especially when you consider each film has had diminishing returns from a box office perspective, the upcoming prequel needs to hit it out of the park to keep the franchise alive.

Based on our official first official look at Hailee Steinfeld‘s character “Charlie Watson”, this movie is certainly trying to differentiate itself as much as it possibly can from it’s predecessors. This is a good thing. It’s going to be interesting to finally see a someone else’s take on a ‘Transformers‘ film other than Michael Bay. By setting the film in 1987, and returning to a simplified story that is reminiscent of the first film, the filmmakers seem to be taking steps to individualize this story as much as possible. Here is the first look at Seinfeld’s character (via her twitter account).

Directed by Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings), the film is currently shooting in California. It will also star John Cena, Pamela Aldon, Stephen Schenider, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Jason Drucker, Kenneth Choi, Ricardo Hoyos, Abby Quinn, Rachel Crow, and Grace Dzienny.

Here is the synopsis for ‘Bumblebee‘:

On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian
beach town. Charlie (Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary yellow VW bug.
