Rumors Circulate That ‘Wonder Woman 2’ Could Be Set During 1980’s Cold War Era

(AOTN) This summer’s release of “Wonder Woman” was exactly what the DC Cinematic Universe needed to get back on its’ feet and the film smashed the box office bringing over $700 million worldwide. Fans and critics alike praised director Patty Jenkins phenomenal work on the film and were thrilled to hear that she plans to return once again to helm the planned sequel.

Thus far there have been very few details released regarding the plot and setting for “Wonder Woman 2”, however the rumors we are hearing thanks to the good folks over a Screen Rant claim that, “Wonder Woman 2 will be another historical adventure prior to the modern day DCEU. Set during the 1980s, the film will send Diana against the forces of Soviet Union in the closing days of the Cold War.”

It is also rumored that actor Chris Pine could be returning, but in what capacity has not yet been revealed. Speculation would lead us to believe that he could return as our beloved Steve Trevor in another series of flashbacks, however more realistically Pine could potentially portray one of Trevor’s direct descendants. We can only hope for another love story arc and possibly one that is not quite as ill-fated.

We definitely can’t wait until more details are revealed throughout the coming year!
