Sony Announces Release Date for ‘Spider-Man’ Spin-off, ‘Venom’

Just months before the release of Spider-Man: Homecoming (July 2017), Sony has announced that they will indeed go forward with plans to release a Spider-Man spin-off film based on one of the most popular villains Marvel, Venom.

Sony has scheduled Venom to be released October 5, 2018, the same date that Aquaman was set to release before Warner Bros. moved it back to December 21, 2018.

Details that are coming out of various sites so far say that this Venom film will exist separately from the MCU/ Tom Holland universe. Penning the script are Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner with Avi Arad (Iron-Man, Spider-Man) and Matt Tolmach (The Amazing Spider-Man, Spider-Man Homecoming) producing the film.

The only other time we had a chance to see the alien symbiote on the big screen was in Spider-Man 3, where the villain was played by Topher Grace. It’s safe to say that that version of Venom was not what fans were quite expecting.
