Hulu Renews ‘Shut Eye’ For Season Two

(AOTN) We could not be more overjoyed with the news that the hit Hulu original drama series “Shut Eye” has been renewed for a second season. While there has not yet been a release date for season two revealed, we know that it will consist of ten new episodes. Season one ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, so we are certainly on the edge of our seats to see what will be in store for us in season two.

The first season of Shut Eye starred Jeffrey Donovan (‘Charlie Haverford’), KaDee Strickland (‘Linda Haverford’), Emmanuelle Chriqui (‘Gina’), David Zayas (‘Eduardo Magana’), Angus Sampson (‘Fonso Marks’), Susan Misner (‘Dr. Nora White’) and Isabella Rossellini (‘Rita Marks’). John Shiban will serve as Showrunner/Executive Producer for the second season. Executive Producers also include Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein for Gran Via Productions and Les Bohem.

We thought that Hulu took a big risk with a series like “Shut Eye” and in the end it paid off in a big way. Contrary to the opinion of a few other critics, we thoroughly enjoyed “Shut Eye”. While the story was at times a bit zany and bizarre there was still a solid thread that held this series together and that was the fact that it had heart. The all-star cast and writers do a phenomenal job at keeping their characters both fresh and interesting. Just when you felt things were going to okay and everything was about to be figured out there was yet another obstacle that various characters must overcome. We found the story-line overall to be quite addictive and emotionally appealing.

About the series:

Charlie Haverford (Jeffrey Donovan) is a scammer with a small chain of fortune-telling storefronts and contracts building tricks for a family that controls the business in the greater chunk of Los Angeles. A blow to the head from a client’s angry boyfriend intersects with a hypnosis session while auditioning a new “clairvoyant,” and suddenly, a man whose entire life has been based on fraud begins to see and feel some very real and fundamental truths. Charlie’s wife Linda (KaDee Strickland) is sick and tired of their mediocre life and wants to break away from Fonso (Angus Sampson), the single father who runs the Marks family’s psychic empire, and controls the Haverford’s future. Isabella Rossellini co-stars as Rita, the cunning, seductive, and sadistic matriarch of the Marks clan.

Season one of “Shut Eye” is currently streaming on Hulu! Be sure to stay tuned for any additional updates in regards to season two!
