More X-Files On The Way? Seems Likely According To Actor David Duchovny

(AOTN) Fans of the cult-hit FOX series “The X-Files” were overjoyed when it was revealed that the series would be making a comeback in terms of a limited “event” series, however were slightly disappointed when it turned out to be only a six-episode run. At the time it seemed that the “X-Files” reboot was possibly only a one time deal and we may never hear from our beloved Mulder and Skully again once the “event” series reached it’s conclusion.

However, fans of the series know that the ending of the “X-Files” reboot was left very open ended and it certainly left fans with the hope that there could be the possibility for additional episodes in the future. The reason for such a shortened season had a lot to do with the schedules of both David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson and series creator Chris Carter. They would have liked the ability to do more episodes, however from a scheduling stand-point it was not feasible at the time.

During FOX’s 2016 TCA panel,  Fox Broadcasting Company Entertainment President David Madden praised the “X-Files” reboot and said that the network would “absolutely love to do another season”. He went on to add, “There are significant talks going on with all three of the principals. Schedules are hard but we’re working hard to get this done.”

That news has been further confirmed by actor David Duchovny who commented in an upcoming interview with PopCultureMadness.com that “We’re looking to do more “X-Files” soon”! Since FOX has had so much success with musicals recently, they joked about the possibility of an “X-Files” musical, perhaps even having Mulder dueting with some aliens.  Duchovny joked, “Yeah, I don’t know about that, but I do plan to pitch my own music for the soundtrack. We’ll see how far I get!”  Duchovny is currently about to hit the road touring behind his debut album release “Hell Or Highwater” and is super excited about the release of his follow-up album later this year!

It is the hope of both the network and fans that we will get a bit longer of a season if the “X-Files” makes a return, as the plan would be for an eight to ten episode season rather than only six. It has been proven time and time again that a network does not need a full 22 episode season run to create a successful series and overall popularity and cult-following for a series such as the “X-Files” truly makes this one a no-brainer for the network!
