Hanazuki Full of Treasures First Nine Episodes Review

Coming to you by way of YouTube is Habro’s newest digital series, “Hanazuki Full of Treasures”. The animated digital series is based off of the Amersterdam born brand Hanazuki, which features very colorful character designs that now come to life through the wonderful world of animation. Here’s what I got out of the first nine episodes released via YouTube Jan. 12:

“Hanazuki Full of Treasures” follows a young and vibrant moonflower who is at the center of a galaxy filled with an assortment of prismatic characters and dangers that put Hanazuki’s moon in jeopardy. In each of the first nine episodes, Hanazuki is faced with some sort of hero’s journey to save her moon or friends from an evil threat, like chicken plant. The moonflower, Hanazuki is often faces these threats with the help of her sidekick space bunnies, a singing diamond, a sleepy unicorn, a sister moonflower and even a floating sleeping baby.

Each episode is about 10 to 11 minutes in runtime, which I think is a good runtime for a children’s animated series. It makes the story move faster and it also allows the kids’ eyes not to be glued to the screen all day long. Though in this case, with the “Hanazuki Full of Treasures” being streamed through YouTube, a kid can easily watch numerous episodes in one sitting. But let’s not get to caught up on this being released primarily for children.

After watching the first nine episodes, I feel that this digital series as the potential to be one of the next big things. By that I mean I can easily see Hanazuki characters being cosplayed at comic book conventions all over the world by people of all ages. The series has everything that an animated series needs to have in order to stay afloat the ever growing world of animation, while also being very unique and standout in the crowd all thanks to a crazy cast of characters and its unpredictability.

Hanazuki Full of Treasures” is a 27 episode digital series and will premiere on Youtube and the YouTube Kids app on Jan.12.
