First Trailer For Ghostbusters Reboot Has Been Unleashed!

The first trailer for the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot has been released and so far fans appear to be split right down the middle as to whether or not they are excited for this film or they think it looks utterly ridiculous. The upcoming film will feature an all-female led cast and is slated to hit theaters on July 15.

Ghostbusters stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. It was directed by Paul Feig, the filmmaker behind Bridesmaids and Spy. If the trailer is any indication, then the film is certainly going to have its comedic moments, however it could be too over the top for hardcore fans of the original Ghostbusters film franchise.

The trailer made it’s premiere for press and superfans on the Sony Pictures lot and director Paul Feig and screenwriter Kate Dippold were on hand to discuss some of what we learn in the trailer. Obviously the return of Slimer had everyone buzzing and Feig commented

“Originally, I was kind of like, ‘No way,’ but after seeing it, you think, Slimer is the one ghostbusters-posterthing from the original that people are obsessed about.”

The Ectomobile will now be a hearse, as Feig explains

“I was like, ‘What’s a cool-looking car?’ And I just loved those ’80s Cadillacs, I liked that it was different than the rounded look of the original. It’s a fun look.”

The film is also a completely new story that has nothing to do with events from the original two films. Dipplod commented

“We wanted to imagine what it would be like to be a Ghostbuster and no one takes you seriously. And to have that moment of people seeing for the first time that, ‘Wait, ghosts are real and they are attacking us!’ “

Despite the fact that we know there will be cameos from Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson in the upcoming film none were actually revealed in the trailer, other than a brief glimpse of Chris Hemsworth who will play the Ghostbusters receptionist.
