‘Leo’s Red Carpet Rampage’ Is The Greatest Thing Ever

The fact that it’s widely known that Leonardo DiCaprio wants an Oscar extremely badly is something that became painfully obvious after his performance in ‘The Revenant’ (read our review here). I mean, the guy ate raw bison liver and dealt with freezing-cold temperatures (and in water nonetheless) during the filming. If that  doesn’t scream oscar bait, nothing will. But I digress–

In anticipation of this year’s Oscars ceremony, The Line Animation have put together a deviously hilarious game that completely sums up Leo’s quest for Oscar Glory: ‘Leo’s Red Carpet Rampage‘. Using traditional side-scrolling gameplay, you control a miniature Leonardo DiCaprio, collecting Golden Globe, BAFTA, and SAG statuettes all while dodging paparazzi and racing another nominees such as Michael Fassbender and Eddie Redmayne to Oscar glory. Along with this, the game includes a series of mini-games in between levels that only prove to provide scathing commentary on the awards season.

Naturally ‘Leo’s Red Carpet Rampage’ had to poke fun at the “#OscarsSoWhite” Controversy by adding a mini game “find the black nominee”. The funny part, of course, is that all of the nominees that you are given to select form are white. This scathing criticism almost happens so fast in the game that it’s almost hard to catch, but a fun little tidbit nonetheless. If anything, it reminds us of the absurdity of the Oscasrs ceremony.

You can play the full video game here. If you don’t have time to watch, here’s a gameplay video. It’s totally worth a watch.
