unnamed (1)2016 is off to a roaring start with a new name for us and two new films for you!

In THE ABANDONED, Director Eytan Rockaway makes his feature film directorial debut in this tense thriller that blurs the lines between illness and reality to mirror the traumatized psyche of the protagonist in a story that challenges the power of our own perception.

Desperate to get her life back on track, the unstable Streak (Martha Marcy May Marlene’s Louisa Krause) takes a job as a security guard, working the graveyard shift at a once upscale, now abandoned apartment complex. But on her first night on duty, she discovers a horrifying presence lurking deep within the bowels of the decaying building. With her nerves already on edge, Streak must confront demons both real and imagined as she struggles to keep a grip on her sanity. Jason Patric (The Lost Boys) co-stars in this harrowing thrill ride.

unnamedIn CHERRY TREE, the new film by David Keating, (Wake Wood)  our young protagonist, Faith (Naomi Battrick-Crossing Lines, Waterloo Road), world is turned upside down after she finds out that her beloved father is dying. When the mysteriously alluring Sissy Young (Anna WaltonHellboy IIMutant ChroniclesVampire Diary) becomes her new hockey coach, Faith has no idea that Sissy is the head of a witches’ coven that has resided in her home town of Orchard for centuries.

Using the fruit of an ancient cherry tree in a bloody ritual, the witches can bring the dead and dying back to life, and when Sissy offers to cure Faith’s father (Sam HazeldineThe Monuments Men, The Raven), she lures the young woman into a dangerous deal that will leave her fighting for her life.
