First Image From the ‘Ghostbusters’ Has Serious Sass

The Ghostbusters Reboot is something of an anomaly. The long in development project is neither a straight sequel nor a reboot, but mixture of the two. After years and years of hearing Dan Aykroyd tell us that Ghostbusters 3 was “just around the corner”, along with a barrage of rumors that weren’t actually true, all hope seemed lost for the sequel. Then, Paul Feig joined the project. Suddenly, things seemed to find traction. Then came a potentially game-changing revelation: The film would feature an all new cast which would be entirely female-driven.

This spin on the material was a genius move for several reasons, the biggest of which is a renewed interest from a fan base that didn’t seem excited about more of the same. While we haven’t seen much from the production of the film, Feig has shared some teases from the set of Ghostbusters via his twitter page, and we also knew that Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones would lead the film. Besides that, we don’t know much.

Now that the first official image from the film has been released, we still know…nothing more than we already knew. Other than the fact that these ladies mean business. Check out the image below:

While this photo is enough to garner a good amount of enthusiasm for the time being, I’m curious why this was not released earlier. A trailer for Ghostbusters will undoubtedly drop soon, as the film’s July 2016 release dater grows nearer and nearer. The true question to be answered is whether this film will stand on it’s own, or just be a bunch of references to the original films. I can’t help but think that it will be the former.

Stay tuned for more info on the film as it’s July 15th, 2016 release date looms closer and closer.
