Just kidding. It’s no surprise that the Fast and Furious franchise is an absolute juggernaut at the box office. Furious 7 killed it this weekend at the box office, earning an impressive $143.6 million. This ranks as the ninth-best opening weekends of all-time. It’s an extremely impressive feat for a movie franchise not in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Furious 7 added another $240 million overseas, for a worldwide total of $384 million. Insane numbers. but not unexpected. It set all types of records, from franchise to pre-summer records, but may see a slight drop in the next weekend. We shall see. All I know is these numbers are bigger than films in the Marvel Universe that wasn’t The Avengers, so it’s extremely impressive. Fast and Furious 6 set the previous franchise high with a $97,375,245 million.
The other box office films are uninteresting, other than It Follows, which finished number six with $2.5 million. But nobody cares about these movies anymore. Here’s a rundown of the previous Fast and Furious opening weekends.
