There has been a ton of speculation surrounding when this trailer would be released, and over the past few days we finally got some information. First came word that fans would be able to register for an IMAX viewing of the teaser trailer, confirmed by director Zack Snyder – with a brief glimpse of Henry Cavill’s Kryptonian threads and Ben Affleck’s new Batsuit. But once the teaser made it to theaters, online leaks followed almost immediately. Despite attempts to remove all such videos from the internet (which we know is impossible) Warner Bros. decided the best way to save face was to officially release the teaser. The last thing they want is everyones first look at one of the studios largest events films in history to be sh*tty cell phone footage.

As far as the teaser trailer goes, personally I loved it for what it was; a teaser. Although we really don’t get to see that much actual footage, the clip still manages to set the tone for the film. This film is beyond the gritty, realistic tone of the previous Batman trilogy or even Man of Steel. Instead this film, really seems to cross over into a much, much darker tone then I think most fans were expecting.

Personally I thought it was awesome, something different that we haven’t seen in mainstream comic book movies. Not to mention the first look at Batman is Bad @ss! The trailer is fairly divided, focusing on one character then another. There is a clear divide when the focus switches to Bruce Wayne and we get an awesome(yet fairly ambiguous) quote from Alfred:

“That’s how it starts. The fever. The rage. The feeling of powerlessness that turns good men… cruel.”

Is he talking about Bruce and his current state of mind? Or rather the people of World and their reactions to Superman and the events of Man of Steel? I consider that to be good marketing. The final sequence of the teaser is a look at the pair of iconic characters facing off head-to-head. It was enough to give me chills.

With all the current gossip surrounding Suicide Squad such as plot thread rumors, pictures on twitter, casting updates, etc, it seemed that this film has been a bit  over-shadowed. well that is anything but the case now, as ‘Superman V Batman’ is back, front and center. Basically If it has anything to do with the DC shared universe, the masses will be all over it. Fans just can’t get enough. and as far as a shared universe goes, it’s good to see a concrete plan in place. Check out the release schedule below.
