Star Trek 3 to Begin Filming in June 2015

Now that Star Trek 3 has it’s director in Justin Lin, and that Simon Pegg has been hired for rewrites on the script, the production is now gearing up to start shooting in the next few months. While Zachary Quinto said last year that the film would shoot “early 2015“, the production had it’s fair share of problems.

Originally, Roberto Orci was set to write and direct the film, which will see the crew of the enterprise finally embarking on their infamous 5 year mission. Then, several months later, it was announced that Orci had departed Star Trek as both writer and director. The reason for his departure was unclear, but maybe it’s the fact that Orci had never directed a feature film combined with the film’s sure to be massive budget. Justin Lin jumped on board as director, all but ensuring that the film makes it’s targeted July 8, 2016 release date.

Now, According to a website called acting-auditions.org, Star Trek 3 will begin filming in June through October of this year. This seems about right from a post production perspective, as Star Trek 3 will need adequate time for the VFX work needed for the film. Here is the quote, directly from the site.

The Paramount Pictures feature film Star Trek 3 is now in pre-production with shooting set to take place in Vancouver, BC beginning on June 1, 2015 and continuing through October 1, 2015.

We can expect to see Star Trek 3 hit theaters July 8th, 2016. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
