‘Southpaw’ Official Trailer

Over the last few years Jake Gyllenhaal has transformed himself into one of the better actors in Hollywood.  He completely transforms into the character he’s paying and always give an enthralling performance.  His newest film, Southpaw, looks to continue this trend.  Directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, The Equalizer) and written by Kurt Sutter (Sons of Anarchy) and Richard Wenk (16 Blocks, The Equalizer), Southpaw looks like a twist on the typical sports films.  The first trailer is here, but beware it gives a lot of the plot away.

Here’s the first official trailer:

Southpaw looks great.  The trailer is great, but seems to give a lot of the plot away.  Regardless, I’m sold.

From director Antoine Fuqua (TRAINING DAY) and writers Kurt Sutter (SONS OF ANARCHY) and Richard Wenk (THE MECHANIC) comes SOUTHPAW – the story of Billy “The Great” Hope, Junior Middleweight Boxing Champion of the World. When tragedy strikes and he loses it all, Billy enters the battle of his life as he struggles to become a contender once again and win back those he loves. SOUTHPAW stars Academy Award® nominee Jake Gyllenhaal, Academy Award® winner Forest Whitaker, Rachel McAdams, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Rita Ora, Naomie Harris and Victor Ortiz.  In theaters July 2015.

Southpaw opens in theaters July 31st.
