‘Mr. Holmes’ Trailer #1

Well ladies and gentlemen, we are getting another version of Sherlock Holmes coming to the big screen summer 2015, titled ‘Mr. Holmes’. Despite the fact that the original stories and character are over 100 years old, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s most renowned detective continues to captivate and entertain audiences. Here is the first look at Sir Ian McKellen as Sherlock Holmes!

Here is the official synopsis for the next Sherlock installment, MR. HOLMES:

MR. HOLMES is a new twist on the world’s most famous detective.1947, an aging Sherlock Holmes returns from a journey to Japan, where, in search of a rare plant with powerful restorative qualities, he has witnessed the devastation of nuclear warfare.  Now, in his remote seaside farmhouse, Holmes faces the end of his days tending to his bees, with only the company of his housekeeper and her young son, Roger.  Grappling with the diminishing powers of his mind, Holmes comes to rely upon the boy as he revisits the circumstances of the unsolved case that forced him into retirement, and searches for answers to the mysteries of life and love – before it’s too late.

Over the years we have seen multiple iterations of the character come to life on the big and small screens. In this past decade alone we have seen an abundance of The Sherlock character. Most notable amongst the nerd community is Benedict Cumberbatch’s portrayal on the hit BBC series Sherlock. We also have Elementary, a more americanized version of the character and stories presented by CBS. And lets not forget the 2 movies starring Robert Downey Jr., and the third that is still in development. Clearly there is a fan base for the character, but is this becoming a bit too much? On the other hand I am thoroughly excited to see Ian McKellen play an older version of the character.
