During a recent Facebook Q&A, “Guardians Of The Galaxy” director James Gunn let the cat out of the bag that Marvel Studios will NOT be making an appearance at San Diego Comic 2015.
Gunn’s comments came after a fan asked “Will you be at San Diego Comic Con this year?” and Gunn replied “I’m not sure. Marvel isn’t going so I’m not sure I will either.”
And now the internet is going crazy with people freaking about a lack of presence by the studio at what is without a doubt the largest pop culture conventions in the world. The news has certainly left many fans who already purchased badges to SDCC 2015 in a frenzy.
Marvel’s parent company, Disney is putting together their own D23 convention which is set to take place in August, so rumor has it that Marvel is saving all of their major announcements to be revealed during that event, rather than at SDCC. This is not to say that Marvel will have no presence at SDCC, as we just can not see that happening, Gunn’s comment were probably more in context to him as filmmaker and not the studio overall.
There has been no official confirmation about Gunn’s comments from Marvel Studios themselves, so for now we will just have to wait and see and certainly keep our fingers crossed for some good news.
