Jason Segel and Drew Pearce are set to direct the newest Lego Movie spinoff.

Jason Segel and Drew Pearce Set to direct ‘The Lego Movie’ Spinoff

Last years The Lego Movie directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller was such a success, that not only was a sequel immediately commissioned, but multiple spinoff films as well.  So far the lineup includes Ninjago set for a 2016 release, The Lego Batman Movie in 2017, The Lego Movie Sequel in 2018, and now the Jason Segel/Drew Pearce’s The Billion Brick Race.

It should be interesting to see the dynamics between Segel and Pearce.  Segel, best know for his comedies including Forgetting Sarah Marshall, I Love You, Man, and 2011’s The Muppets.  Pearce on the other hand, is known for writing highly intense action films.  He wrote Iron Man 3 and the upcoming Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, as well as many screenplay re-writes.  Their sensibilities could blend together to make an interesting final product.

maxresdefaultHopefully we don’t get Lego fatigue before The Billion Brick Race hits theaters.  Warner Brothers now has a Lego movie every year beginning in 2016.  Although, they have their own unique stories so we can hope they make the films different enough to keep the fans excited.
