In case you haven’t seen the trailers, Furious 7 is set to continue the franchise’ trend of increasing the spectacle with each subsequent installment. A new featurette detailing what they call the “Car Drop” sequence has been released courtesy of Universal, and the behind the scenes footage is absolutely insane. The featurette focuses entirely on the sequence and how they were able to shoot the scene practically with no additional visual effects enhancements. What is particularly impressive about the logistics of sequence that the filmmakers had to deal with is the unpredictability of the cars as they plummet towards the earth. Considering that they used multiple skydivers with cameras attached to their head to capture the footage, the idea of dropping a several thousand pound piece of metal out of a plane seems harrowing to say the least. They are joined by international action stars new to the franchise including Jason Statham, Djimon Hounsou, Tony Jaa, Ronda Rousey and Kurt Russell. Neal H. Moritz, Vin Diesel and Michael Fottrell return to produce the film written by Chris Morgan.
