The 2015 Razzies: ‘Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas’, ‘Transformers 4’ Win Big

So every year, the Oscars roll around with what is called the year’s “best films”, and then there are the Razzies, with the worst films of the year. But over the past few years, I have noticed that the Razzies are actually getting worse than some of the movies themselves. I say that because for the past three years, the razzies have had more than enough horrible films to pick from but they insist on just picking one film to sweep the board. Now don’t get me wrong, the films that sweep are horrible, but in a situation like this year, Kirk Cameron captured more Razzie awards than anyone. Now I am not saying that the film is great, but some of the other choices seemed way worse and should have won in my opinion. The point of the Razzie award is to take the worst films, the mainstream, high-budget busts, and award them for being bad. So lets review this year’s winners and I’ll throw in my Two cents to who I think should have won. Now keep in mind, I haven’t seen all of these films but I have seen most:

Redeemer Award went to Ben Affleck: He went from Worst with Gili to Oscar Nods and wins with Gone Girl and Argo.

The nominations for the 2015 Razzies were (with the winner in bold):

Worst Screen Combo-

Any two robots, actors, or robotic actors, “Transformers 4: Age of Extinction
Kirk Cameron and his ego, “Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas” – WINNER
Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel, “Sex Tape
Kellen Lutz and either his abs, his pecs, or his glutes, “The Legend of Hercules
Seth Macfarlane and Charlize Theron, “A Million Ways to Die in the West

Now in my opinion, I would have given this to Macfarlane and Theron due to being the only actual duo other than Diaz and Segel. Macfarlane and Theron had 0 Chemistry compared to anyone else noted. Cameron really shouldn’t even be nominated.

Worst Remake, Sequel, or Rip off-

Annie” – WINNER
“Atlas Shrugged #3: Who Is John Galt?”
“The Legend of Hercules”
“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”
“Transformers 4: Age of Extinction”

Out of all of these, I didn’t see Annie, but based of just watching the groan inducing trailer was enough to at least win it something in my mind.

Worst Screenplay-

“Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas,” written by Darren Doane and Cheston Hervey – WINNER
Left Behind,” screenplay by Paul LaLonde and John Patus, based on the novel by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins
Sex Tape,” screenplay by Kate Angelo and Jason Segel & Nicholas Stoller
Transformers 4: Age of Extinction,” written by Ehren Kruger, based on Hasbro’s Transformers action figures
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” written by Evan Daugherty and Andre Nemec & Josh Applebaum, based on characters created by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman

I still honestly don’t believe Cameron should even be included, based on the fact that his film was in limited release and really just isn’t in the same category of the others. Left Behind should have won this based on the fact that it was a shot-for-shot remake of an already horrible, cheaply made Kirk Cameron film.

Worst supporting Actress-

Cameron Diaz, “Annie”
Megan Fox, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” – WINNER
Nicola Peltz, “Transformers 4: Age of Extinction”
Susan Sarandon, “Tammy”
Brigitte Ridenour (nee Cameron), “Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas”

As bad as Megan Fox was in this film, no one on this list was more insufferable than Nicola Peltz in Transformers 4. More flat than a board on the floor, she made an already horrible film even worse.

Worst Actress-

Drew Barrymore, “Blended”
Cameron Diaz, “The Other Woman” and “Sex Tape” – WINNER
Melissa McCarthy, “Tammy”
Charlize Theron, “A Million Ways to Die in the West”
Gaia Weiss, “The Legend of Hercules”

Nobody deserves this award more than Melissa McCarthy.  With her horrible one-character acting style, she should have had this in the bag. I can’t stand almost anything she does, and maybe I am being a little Biased, but after sitting through one too many of her films I can’t help it.

Worst Supporting Actor-

Mel Gibson, “Expendables 3”
Kelsey Grammer, “Expendables 3,” “Legends of Oz,” “Think Like a Man Too,” “Transformers 4: Age of Extinction” – WINNER
Shaquille O’Neal, “Blended”
Arnold Schwarzenegger, “Expendables 3”
Kiefer Sutherland, “Pompeii”

Kelsey Grammer wins this, no complaints.

Worst Actor-

Kirk Cameron, “Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas” – WINNER
Nicolas Cage, “Left Behind”
Kellan Lutz, “The Legend of Hercules”
Seth Macfarlane, “A Million Ways to Die in the West”
Adam Sandler, “Blended”

Kellan Lutz should have won this hands down. If anyone watched The Legend of Hercules they would know how horrible that movie is. Kellan Lutz stared at the camera for 90-plus minutes with the same blank expression on his face the whole time, with acting skills that complemented that of a cardboard box.

Worst Director-

Michael Bay, “Transformers 4: Age of Extinction” – WINNER
Darren Doane, “Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas”
Renny Harlin, “The Legend of Hercules”
Jonathan Liebesman, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”
Seth Macfarlane, “A Million Ways to Die in the West”

Once again, Renny Harlin should have won for The Legend of Hercules. No film last year had more over acting, horrible effects, and bad direction than this.

Worst Picture-

“Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas” – WINNER
“Left Behind”
“The Legend of Hercules”
“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”
“Transformers 4: Age of Extinction”

All and all, The Legend of Hercules should have gotten this in my opinion. No film was worse and if you don’t Believe me, just watch the film for yourself.
