Terrence Malick’s ‘Knight of Cups’ Trailer

Earlier this morning, the Berlin Film Festival announced that Terrence Malick’s Knight of Cups would premiere at the festival come February 2015.  I couldn’t be more excited for a new Terry Malick film, even though I wasn’t crazy about his last effort To the Wonder.  The film has been under tight security and now we have both a synopsis and a trailer.

“Once there was a young prince whose father, the king of the East, sent him down into Egypt to find a pearl. But when the prince arrived, the people poured him a cup. Drinking it, he forgot he was the son of a king, forgot about the pearl and fell into a deep sleep. Rick’s father used to read this story to him as a boy. The road to the East stretches out before him. Will he set forth?”  While the synopsis fits what Malick has done throughout his career, it’s extremely cryptic.  The film seems to deal with Christian Bale’s character dealing with who he’s become in a crazy Hollywood celebrity filled world.  I’m excited.

Here’s the first trailer.  Enjoy!
