Box Office: ‘Maze Runner’ Escapes Crowded Weekend

The Maze Runner was able to finish number one, amongst an array of crowded box office newcomers, bringing in an estimated $32.5 million.  All things considered, this was an fairly successful debut for the newest YA franchise, as they weren’t looking to compete on the level as say.  Coming in at number two, was the Liam Neeson thriller A Walk Among the Tombstones with a disappointing $13.1 million, considerably lower than recent Neeson staring vehicles.

The ensemble cast in This Is Where I Leave You wasn’t able to save the film at the box office, finishing below expectations with a disappointing $11.9 million.

Last week’s number one film No Good Deed finished right behind at number four, with $10.2 million, and a total of $40.1 million.

Check back to see how Kevin Smith’s Tusk panned pout in its opening weekend, with a limited release of only 600 theaters.
