Box Office: ‘Turtles’ Open Number One

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles finished its opening weekend strong, finishing the weekend with an estimated $65 million, toppling both The Guardians of the Galaxy and studio expectation.  Despite its many flaws, TMNT performed above expectations with the studio quickly announcing the sequels official release date June 3, 2016.  Regardless of the films aim towards kids, the filmmakers could have tried harder.  It was an incredibly lazy film with no heart at the core.  But, you’ve already heard this before.

Guardians of the Galaxy dropped considerably in its second weekend, dropping to number two, earning $41.5 million.
