Marvel Settles On ‘Ant-Man’ Director

Since Edgar Wright left Ant-Man, it’s been a rough couple weeks for Marvel.  With a film scheduled to open in a little over a year, the studio has been struggling to find a replacement for Wright.  While it’s not fair to jump to any conclusions, the news has been devastating for fans who had been excited to see Wright’s interpretation of the MCU.

Peyton-ReedThe news isn’t incredibly exciting, as Marvel has officially announced Wrights replacement.  Bring it On and Yes Man director Peyton Reed will be stepping in to direct the film staring Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas.  Adam McKay, who turned down the role of director, will be rewriting the script.

Peyton Reed almost directed Fantastic Four, which he had been personally been developing, only to have the studio go with director Tim Story instead.  Now Reed finds himself on the other side of the tricky business that is Hollywood.

Ant-Man is still scheduled to hit theaters July 17, 2015.
