From director Alejandro González Iñárritu (21 Grams, Babel, Biutiful) comes his newest film Birdman, starring Michael Keaton as washed up actor Riggan Thomson, who is famous for portraying the superhero Birdman. Thomsom is now on Broadway, and in the days leading up to the show, he struggles with his former alter ego.
Co-staring Emma Stone, Edward Norton, Andrea Risendorough, Amy Ryan, Naomi Watts, and Zach Galifianakis, Birdman looks to be a bit lighter in tonethan Alejandro González Iñárritu’s previous films. His previous films (The Death Trilogy and Biutiful) were extremely heavy dramas, while all featured his beautiful aesthetics.
I love the tone the trailer sets, and have enjoyed all of Alejandro González Iñárritu’s previous films, and am excited to see his foray into comedy (his previous films are insanely draining, but in a good way).
Here’s the trailer below, enjoy.
