‘Better Call Saul’ Pushed to 2015; Season 2 Ordered

Filming is currently underway in Albuquerque, New Mexico for the upcoming Breaking Bad spin-off, Better Call Saul.  While everything seems to be shooting on schedule, AMC has announced that they are pushing its release date to 2015.  That’s the bad news.  The good news is that a second 13-episode season two has been ordered.  This brings the episode total to 23, so fans can rest a bit, they’re just going to have to be a little patient.

Besides Odenkirk’s Saul Saul Goodman, Jonathan Banks will be returning as fan favorite Mike Ehmantraut, with possible cameos from Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul. The new characters in the series include Michael McKean as Dr. Thurber, Rhea Sheehorn as Beth, Patrick Fabian as Burt, and Michael Mando as Eddie.

This is the first image from the shoot, and it features the one-and-only Vince Gilligan directing Mr. Odenkirk.

Officially AMC president Charlie Collier said:

“Production on Better Call Saul is underway and we could not be more proud of nor more excited about the work to date. We join the fans in eager anticipation for this series and today we happily confirm that our initial Saul order is for two seasons and a total of 23 episodes. When introducing any series, especially one with the DNA of Breaking Bad, there are countless factors to consider in making sure the show gets the launch it deserves. We have a strong history with Vince, Peter, Bob, the studio and so many involved with this production; we are enjoying the process on Saul and all share a focus on making it a true television event. No half measures.”
