New Coen Bros film Officially Titled/Plot Detailed

Joel and Ethan Coen have officially announced their follow-up to their critically successful Inside Llewyn Davis, and the tittle is… Hail Caesar.  The new film will focus on a 1950’s Hollywood fixer, who was used to keep the images of highly famous stars as skeaky clean as possible.  Deadline has reported that Hail Caesar will in fact be their next feature, and explain “the comical yarn centers on a man named Eddie Mannix who sounds a lot like the Fred Otash of his day — the famed 1950s private investigator who worked forConfidential magazine and was the muckraker of the time using wiretaps to spy on movie stars and gather dirt. Otash was a former lifeguard who became a cop, lost his job as a cop and became a private eye who wiretapped. The project is being put together now. It’s not clear if the Eddie Mannix in the script is based on the man of the same who was a MGM vp, for those of you wondering. The real Mannix was vp and general manager under Louis B. Mayer and Dore Schary. It was Mannix’s wife who actor George Reeves had the affair with. Reeves was later found with a gunshot wound to the head and it was ruled a suicide by the L.A. County coroner’s office but questions have always persisted about the death”.

(The brother’s have been dominating the film game since they looked like this)

This sounds right up the Coen brothers’ alley, and will be exciting to see them explore the old Hollywood system of the 50’s.  It’s also incredibly interesting with today’s social media platforms, and celebrities inability to remain out of the spotlight.  George Clooney is set to star in the film, re-teaming with the brothers yet again.  Stay tuned for everything on the Coen’s next film Hail Caesar here at Age of the Nerd.
