‘Kill the Messenger’ Trailer #1

The United States government has always stressed that “conspiracy theories” are just that, theories.  Despite massive amounts of evidence contradicting their positions, the US has always tried to maintained its pristine perception, created to keep their reputation intact.  But when journalists refuse to give-in-to threats by both the government and other third parties, the true facts are bound to come out.  We’re living in a world dominated by conspiracy theories, but as of late, many of these “theories” have become known fact.  Journalist Glenn Greenwald for example, helped break Edward Snowden’s NSA leaks, and we now have 100 % confirmation that our government is spying on us.  Without these fearless journalists and whistle-blowers, we would have no idea about the facts, and would only know what the corporate media and government want us to know.

Rewind almost thirty-years, and you have pulitzer-prize winning journalist Gary Webb (Jeremy Renner), stumbling on something that had once been considered a “crazy conspiracy theory”, the Iran Contra Affair.  Webb exposed the role of the CIA in aiding and profiting off the distribution of drugs in the country they’re supposed to protect.

Kill the Messenger tells this true story, and at a time when this couldn’t be more relevant, looks like a must watch.  The film is directed by Michael Cuesta (Homeland, Dexter), and is scheduled to hit theaters October 10th.  Stay tuned for more information, as the film looks to be in contention come awards season.
