Cannes: Bennett Miller Wins With ‘Foxcather’

The 64th XX Cannes Film Festival recently wrapped, and Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s Winter Sleep took home the Palme d’Or.  The upcoming Steve Carrell, Channing Tatum, and Mark Ruffalo film Foxcatcher, which has been steadily gaining buzz, gave Miller the award for ‘Best Director’.

Palme d’Or winner Jane Campion’s (The Piano) jury consisted of Carole BouquetSofia CoppolaLeila HatamiWillem DefoeGael Garcia BernalJia Zhangke and Nicolas Winding Refn.

Palme d’Or: Winter Sleep by Nuri Bilge Ceylan

Grand Prize:  Alice Rohrwacher by Le Meraviglie

Best Male Performance: Timothy Spall in Mr. Turner by Mike Leigh

Best Female Performance: Julianne Moore in Maps to the Stars by David Cronenberg

Best Director: Bennett Miller for Foxcatcher

Best Screenplay: Leviathan by Andreï Zviaguintsev

Jury Award: Mommy by Xavier Dolan and Goodbye to Language by Jean-Luc Godard (tie)
