Quentin Tarantino recently staged a reading for his newest screenplay The Hateful Eight, his intended next feature which leaked online in January.  After the leak Tarantino said that he would not direct the film, and may just release it in book form.  Furious, Tarantino filed suit against Gawker Media, which was just dropped today by U.S. District Court Judge John F. Walter.  Tarantino has a chance to refile the case by May 1, so we’ll see how he plans to proceed.  The good news is Tarantino recently held a staged reading of the first draft of ‘The Hateful Eight’ in downtown L.A.

Playing in from of 1,200 fans who paid a fair price for admittance, Tarantino announced that he is working on a second draft of the film, and may cut entire sections out of the first draft.  Having had some time to let the anger out, it seems Tarantino still wants to make The Hateful Eight his next feature film.  Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Amber Tamblyn, and Bruce Dern were among some of the actors who participated in the read-through.  The internet was abuzz after this performance, with speculation from most that Tarantino might not have moved on after all.

Everyone in attendance seemed to have enjoyed the script and the read-through, which might also be a great sign that The Hateful Eight is still on the table.  The film is interesting for a variety of reasons, but it would be great to see him go back to a film that supposedly all takes place in one room, much like his directorial debut Reservoir Dogs.  If The Hateful Eight isn’t his next feature, I’m sure he’s already got a couple scripts laying around, or at least some ideas.  Either way, Nobody but Tarantino know whats going on in that head, so it will be interesting to see what he does from here.
