‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ Cast Officially Announced

After much internet speculation, the cast for J.J. Abrams upcoming sequel ‘Star Wars: Episode VII‘ has been officially announced.  Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film.

Director J.J. Abrams says,

“We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud.”

The cast is interesting, and assures all the rumors of the original cast reprising their roles for Episode VII.  Along with our aging rebels, we’re getting a solid group of up-and-coming actors.  Oscar Issac (Inside Llewyn Davis) is fantastic, and it will be great to see John Boyega (Attack the Block’s Mosses), joining the Star Wars Universe.  Motion Capture genius Andy Serkis (Planet of the Apes, Lord of the Rings) will also be an interesting piece to the cast.

There are more casting rumors expected in the near future.  Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled to begin filming in London in the coming weeks, with an expected release date of December 18, 2015.
