20th Century FOX Announces Release Dates for “Wolverine 3” and “Fantastic Four 2”

20th Century Fox has announced the release dates for three upcoming Marvel films, including a mystery project set for summer 2018. While the first “Fantastic Four” is still in pre-production, has just finished up casting and is still weeks out from principal photography, FOX has already decided they will be releasing “Fantastic Four 2″ on July 14, 2017. Not to mention another (and possibly the last!?) Wolverine installment scheduled for March 3, 2017. The studio’s first Fantastic Four film, starring Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell and Miles Teller, opens June 19, 2015.

The untitled Marvel project, set for July 13, 2018, could be another X-Men feature such as the X-Froce movie, currently being written by Kick-Ass 2 director, Jeff Wadlow, or it could possibly be a Gambit Origins story starring Channing Tatum according to FOX Executive Producer Laura Schuller Donner. I guess theres always the possibility it will be the DeadPool film, but as far as we know that film is perpetually stuck in pre-production Limbo, and the chances of us seeing that character in a solo film anytime soon is slim to none to say the least.

The X-Men universe, in addition to James Cameron’s upcoming “Avatar” sequels, remains a top priority for Fox. Including the “Wolverine” standalone films, the X-Men franchise has generated over $2 billion worldwide at the box office. With upcoming action from The Avengers, Star Wars and DC’s Justice League, Fox clearly wanted to get out front on the 2017 tentpole calendar.

Critically acclaimed director Bryan Singer returns to the directors’ chair for“X-Men: Days of Future Past,” co-starring the Wolverine himself, Hugh Jackman, and almost every other actor to play a mutant opens May 23, 2014, shortly followed by another Bryan Singer installment, X-Men: Apocalypse in May 27th, 2016. Without knowing the effects Days of Future Past will have on the X-men universe, we do know that Apocalypse will focus on The mutant forefather, En Sabah Nur, returning with plans to plunge the world into an apocalypse to ensure supremacy. We don’t have long to wait, with X-Men: Days of Future Past hitting theaters May 23rd, 2014.
