Although we won’t be seeing The Avengers team up on the big screen till 2015, casting and preproduction are well underway. Over the summer many details surrounding The Avengers: Age of Ultron have emerged, including the brother-sister team up act, QuickSilver and Scarlet Witch will be joining the cast.
Recently actor Aaron Taylor–Johnson (Kick–Ass, Savages) confirmed that he’s been in talks with Marvel Studios in regarding the role of Quicksilver, and looks like we could get conformation on that any day now. As for the characters sister, early reports rumored that young actress Saoirse Ronan (Hanna, The Host) was being used as the design template for the on-screen version of Scarlet Witch, and has expressed interest in working on the project.
Now a conflicting rumor has emerged, with Bleeding Cool sources reporting that Ronan was offered the role but turned it down. The same source also claims that Marvel has recently tapped young and talented Elizabeth Olsen (Silent House,OldBoy) to play the role of Scarlet Witch. Both actresses are incredibly talented, and either one would make an awesome addition to the team. The one question is; Why would Saoirse Ronan turn down the role? Our guess is Ronan is likely to be joining the cast of Star Wars Episode 7 and the involvement in both films will cause quite a lot of scheduling conflict.
This would also be the second time Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson teamed up, set to share the screen next summer in “Godzilla”. As of right now all of this is just speculation. But If Joss Wheadon’s biggest problem is picking between two awesome actresses, The Avengers: Age of Ultron is looking good.
UPDATE: OLSEN HAS BEEN CONFIRMED FOR THE ROLE OF SCARLET WITCH!
